Just Natural International
Kenya

Motivation
The full name of the association that promotes organic production is "Just Natural International CBO Kitale, Kenya". It was founded in January 2016. But although it is only a young association, it is the fruit of long live experiences, observation, discussion, involvement in social grass root issues...

Just Natural persues two complementary activities :
-
we promote local organic agriculture by working in our demonstration garden, organizing workshops and selling our organic production in cooperation with a network of other organic farmers.
-
we host international volonteers and invite farmers from foreign countries to stay in our guesthouse and learn about africain culture and agriculture.
After World War II, the so-called « Green Revolution », with its enormous imput of chemicals, seemed to be a solution to devastated Europe and to world starvation in general. But while the soil in the industrialised countries got poorer and poorer, the chemical industry became more and more powerfull. Today a few multinational firms control agricultural production, and thus, nutrition and ecologie, worldwide
However, the chemical method has shown its limits and destruction potential since a long time. Today, in western countries, the public opinion is slowly becoming aware of the danger.
Why to promote organic
Why it is important to promote international exchange

Agroindustry being a worldwide business, it is important for the ecological movement to create a huge international network of solidarity and exchange.
Furthermore, if today free trade sets no limits to the circulation of goods and people, this is not true for the poorer part of the world, people who can not afford to travel or are not tolerated in the richer countries.
But the need of mutual understanding and exchange of knowledge exists.
Just Natural hosts international volonteers and invites foreign visitors to their guest house.
The benefit of the rent of the guesthouse will be used to finance new projects of the association !

I
This is not the case in Kenya, where organic farming is widely unknown.
Agroindustry has established a shop for agricultural supply in every little village. Children in school are only taught about chemical methods. In Kenya 85% of the population are small scale farmers and ancient knowledge about natural methods gets lost rapidly.
With its activities Just Natural tries to draw attention to this fatal developement and to offer agricultural organic solutions.
